What is a Chronic Illness?

Chronic illnesses are often defined as long-term diseases that often progress in severity. They can sometimes be controlled, but rarely cured. Chronic diseases may significantly impair everyday physical and mental functions and reduce a person’s ability to perform the normal activities of daily living. These illnesses include but are not limited to:

Arthritis

Asthma

Inflammatory Bowel Disease (Crohn’s  disease, Colitis)

Cardiovascular Disease

Cancer

Diabetes

Epilepsy

Some Mental Illnesses

Multiple Sclerosis

Thyroid Disorders

and many others.
