Robert Hill is a Canadian man who is climbing the seven summits – involving the highest mountains on each continent. With six of the mountains under his belt, only Everest is left.
When Rob Hill summits Mount Everest, he will be one of the first 15 Canadians to complete the seven summits. More importantly though, he will be the first person living with Crohn’s disease and an ostomy to achieve this amazing feat! Rob is climbing to raise awareness of intestinal disease, ostomy and the not-for-profit organization he founded: IDEAS.
A healthy young man until 1994, Rob’s weight plummeted from 185 to 105 pounds after getting sick with Crohn’s disease – a painful inflammation of the intestinal tract. He became so weak he could barely walk up stairs. After having his colon removed – replaced by an ostomy – Rob eventually gained back much of his strength and has since climbed six of the highest mountains in the world.
A high performer in all respects, Rob saw a way of using this experience to inspire others and take away the stigma of intestinal illness and ostomies.
I encourage you to visit the No Guts Know Glory website and read his full story.
