A chronic illness coach can turn confusion into clarity!

Building and maintaining a fulfilling life and career is a challenge at the best of times, but when we develop chronic health issues we can easily be overwhelmed. Many times people will feel:
Chronic pain & fatigue are sapping their strength;

That their relationships with people are suffering;

That they worry more about the future;

That making decisions has become more difficult;

That their health challenges have put a stop to career and personal growth.

If any of these thoughts are familiar to you it is important to understand you are not alone and there are ways to deal with these issues and get you back on the road to success. A good first step is to hire a chronic illness coach. This gives you the guidance you need to make positive changes more quickly and with less effort  than you could yourself. This is also my speciality!

What is chronic illness coaching and how can it help?

How we react and adapt to the challenges of life and work when we have an illness is sometimes as important as treating the illness itself.  Unfortunately, it is easy to feel overwhelmed by fear and uncertainty. It can become difficult to get the perspective we need to recognize our choices and make good decisions.

Long ago I realized that there were many people, like myself, who worked in demanding jobs while dealing with chronic health issues. I have created a coaching program that allows these people to thrive and be fully engaged in their lives and careers.

I don’t diagnose or treat medical issues (that is what doctors are for) but help you see your situation clearly – allowing you to make the right decisions for yourself and others in your life.

Imagine having someone listen to you in a way that no one has ever listened to you before. Together we can develop strategies, goals and commitments to tackle your unique challenges. Having a plan improves your confidence and makes decisions easier. More importantly, it keeps you from wasting valuable energy on the “what-ifs?”.

Jason is one of the most inspirational people I’ve met.  He helped me achieve several personal and professional goals.  Jason’s technique helped me to find balance in my life by reducing stress.  Working with Jason will motivate you and propel you to success! - Kelly Noseworthy, Hamilton, Ontario

Why choose Jason?

For more than three decades, I battled Crohn’s disease, arthritis, and thyroid disease on my way to becoming an award-winning journalist and manager. Now a professional coach and sought-after speaker on the topics of chronic illness and success, I understand the difficult issues faced by those with chronic conditions.

Having been both a manager and an employee I am ideally suited to understand different perspectives and can bridge communications gaps between employers and their workers.

Whether you have an illness yourself or are feeling the stress of an employee or loved-one who is beset by health challenges, I can put together a coaching plan that works for your needs.

As well as being a great sounding-board, Jason has been instrumental in enabling me to not just exist with chronic illness, but to truly look forward to a fulfilling life in spite of it! – E. Logan Halifax, Nova Scotia

How can you ensure these positive changes will last?

In addition to being a professional coach, I am also a certified practitioner of Ericksonian Hypnosis.

Having studied with legendary hypnotist and learning expert Dr. Mike Mandel, I use proven techniques to ensure that the positive changes you make in the coaching sessions stay with you beyond your sessions and into the real world, thus ensuring your independence and personal strength.

It’s like hiring two experts for the price of one.

How much is peace of mind worth? How can coaching help?

Pain and fatigue can sap your strength and spirit. When you have a plan, you can relax, sleep better and know your energy is being used productively. While surviving is important, many of us want to thrive, regardless of our health concerns. While will-power and determination are important tools in overcoming challenges, the truth is they are difficult to maintain without support.

I can help you work smarter, not harder. Coaching helps you create a realistic plan with stimulating, achievable goals. It gives you the peace of mind you need to relax and re-energize, rather than wasting your limited energy on worry and fear. Imagine the positive change you can make in yourself and your career if you start now.

Jason’s ability to get the most out of people is impressive – Ross Hull,
London, Ontario

How do you differ from a psychiatrist, psychotherapist or social worker?

While there are some similarities between coaching and psychotherapy (such as using conversation as a way of examining issues and problems) there are some key differences too. First off, coaches do not diagnose or provide treatment for any mental illness. Secondly,  coaching focuses more on your present and your future and less on your past.

Chronic illness can confuse and overwhelm us at times and make decisions seem difficult. Sometimes people do need help for mental health issues and, for them, mental health professionals should be their first stop.

Often though, what is needed is the ability to take a step back from our situation and look at it in a different way. By doing this, we can identify more choices, improve our communication with others and find a direction that will take us where we want to go – even if we’re limited by chronic pain or lack of energy.

Jason is great at what he does. His solutions make sense and are easy to use. It was a pleasure listening to his wisdom and insight - Anna C., Markham Ontario.

Are your fees covered under insurance or government health programs?

Because I am not a mental health professional, my fees are not covered by most insurance plans, so some people wonder why they should hire me. Here’s why:

  • Because my coaching often pays for itself. Imagine the money you can save by being more productive and engaged starting now and avoiding the downward spiral of confusion and helplessness that can lead to ruin.
  • Because my expertise is in the real world, not academia. I have lived with chronic illness for more than three decades.
  • Because I know what it’s like to live a successful life despite chronic illness. Over the years, I’ve also made all the mistakes and know how help you avoid them.
  • Because I have managed and coached many people with chronic illnesses and know how to motivate you to be your best.
  • Because I have sought out and learned from experts in areas as far ranging as neuroscience, productivity and project management, the healthy organizations movement, coaching, hypnosis, NLP  and many more areas in order to provide you with the best coaching possible.
  • Because helping people with chronic illnesses become more focused, productive and fulfilled is my specialty.
